What to look for
Range = mobile coverage
PoC uses the 3G/4G network or Wi-Fi, so it reaches wherever the operator has coverage. There are no repeaters to install and no frequency licence to apply for.
A SIM card and a data plan
Every radio needs a data SIM. Voice over PoC uses little data, but choose a plan with enough monthly data for how much your team talks.
A platform, not just a radio
PoC radios connect to a PoC platform that manages users and talk groups, and, depending on the plan, a dispatcher console. The platform is a subscription per radio.

Setup tips
- List your teams and who needs to hear whom before ordering; we turn that into talk groups on the platform.
- Test coverage at your sites with the operator you plan to use, especially basements, tunnels and remote areas.
- Keep a charger at every base; PoC radios use more power than a simple PMR446 radio because of the mobile modem.
Good to know before you buy
- No mobile coverage means no PoC. In tunnels, basements or remote mountains a licensed radio may be more reliable.
- There are running costs: SIM data and the platform subscription for every radio, every month.
- PoC radios talk to radios on the same PoC platform. They do not talk to PMR446 or DMR radios without a gateway.
Questions people ask
Do I need an EETT licence for PoC?
No. PoC uses the mobile operator's licensed network, so you do not need your own frequency assignment.
Which SIM card should I use?
A data SIM from an operator with good coverage where your team works. We can recommend plans or arrange SIMs with the order.
Can a smartphone join the same talk group?
Many PoC platforms offer a smartphone app for supervisors. Ask us which options the Kirisun platform plan includes.
